The Curriculum Project
One of the key objectives of the ISNG has always been to improve knowledge amongst nurses about caring for the skin. During 2008 the Advisory Board will be producing a curriculum for pre-registration nurses on this topic that outlines learning outcomes, content and methods of teaching. In practical terms this document will outline the basic knowledge on skin care that ISNG recommends all student nurses around the world should be taught.

The plan is to spend 2008 developing this document and 2009 publicising it and encouraging schools of nursing around the world to adopt it as part of their undergraduate programme. This is an ambitious agenda, but one that we feel is extremely important. You will be kept up-to-date with the ground-breaking work through the eBulletins and the website.

In the meantime, we are always keen to hear from anyone who feels they can contribute. These are some of the ways in which your help would be invaluable:

  • If you have any examples of good practice of how skin care has been included within a curriculum, please send them to us
  • Let us know your views on what general topics should be included in a pre-registration skin care curriculum
  • If you have influence over how curricula for nurses are developed in your country, we would love to hear from you

If you require further information, please contact ISNG.
